Immunogen
The epitope recognized by PLA0120 maps to a region between residues 1 and 50 of human Valosin-Containing Protein using the numbering given in entry NP_009057.1 (GeneID 7415).
Other Notes
Valosin-containing protein (VCP) is a multifunctional protein that is proposed to be involved in vesicle transport and fusion for protein trafficking, 26S proteasome function in ubiquitin-based degradation pathways, and the assembly of peroxisomes. Mutations in the human VCP gene have been associated with diseases such as inclusion body myopathy, Paget disease of the bone, and frontotemporal dementia (IBMPFD). VCP can inhibit apoptosis and may play a role in tumorigenesis.
